REACH Certification is a compliance assurance process that verifies whether a company’s products and processes meet the requirements of the EU REACH Regulation (EC No 1907/2006). It is essential for companies that manufacture, import, or use chemical substances in the European Economic Area (EEA).
Key Requirements:
- Registration of substances produced or imported in quantities of 1 tonne or more per year.
- Submission of a technical dossier and, if applicable, a chemical safety report.
- Use of scientific data and alternative testing methods to minimize animal testing.
- Communication of safety measures throughout the supply chain.
Certification Procedure:
- Substance Identification: Identify the chemical substance and its intended uses.
- Data Collection: Gather data on the substance’s physical, chemical, toxicological, and ecotoxicological properties.
- Laboratory Testing: Conduct tests to determine the substance’s classification and labelling and Prepare Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and exposure scenarios.
- Dossier Preparation: Compile a registration dossier, including chemical data, risk assessments, and intended uses.
- Submission to ECHA: Submit the dossier to the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) for review.
- Authorization and Certification: Once approved, REACH compliance certification is granted.
