"At TÜV Austria NDT, we offer reliable solutions for industrial plants, manufacturers and critical engineering projects with our non-destructive testing services. With our certified experts and state-of-the-art equipment, we ensure that your products comply with quality and safety standards."

Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) is the general name of the test methods used to examine the structural integrity and quality of a material or component without causing damage. These methods are applied to detect errors that may occur during production or during use.

NDT Methods and Areas of Use

Non-destructive testing includes a variety of methods for different types of materials and industrial applications:

Visual Inspection (VT – Visual Testing)

  • It is the most basic NDT method.
  • Defects such as cracks and welding errors on the surface are examined with the naked eye or optical devices.

Liquid Penetrant Testing (PT)

  • Used to detect cracks on the surface.
  • By applying a special penetrant liquid, the openings on the surface are made apparent.

Magnetic Particle Testing (MT)

  • It is used to detect surface and near-surface cracks in ferromagnetic materials.
  • By applying a magnetic field, magnetic particles accumulate in areas where there are defects.

Ultrasonic Inspection (UT – Ultrasonic Testing)

  • It enables the detection of internal defects using high-frequency sound waves.
  • It is suitable for measuring the thickness of the material and detecting internal cracks.

Radiographic Examination (RT – Radiographic Testing)

  • Internal defects are detected using X-ray or gamma rays.
  • Used in critical components such as welded joints, castings and pipelines.

Eddy Current (ET – Eddy Current Inspection)

  • It is used to detect surface defects in electrically conductive materials.
  • Common for inspecting pipes, aircraft, and thin metal surfaces.

Advantages of NDT;

✔ Provides quality control without damaging the material.

✔ Reduces costs by detecting errors early.

✔ Increases quality and ensures safety standards in the production process.
